I don't agree that all fmics are POS, just ones that are designed horribly. If I remember correctly, you had a greddy two or three row horizontal FMIC. Not only does this FMIC conflict with "crossover design of our intake manifold"(We've all heard/read this before, I'm not going to re-iterate for the billionth time), but most importantly the major flaw in it's design is that you will undoubtably experience a much larger variance of pressure drop do to the roller coaster of piping and the very long horizontal cores. On top of that, with the way those type of FMICs mount it's almost impossible to get proper air flow to the top horizontal core, unless you hack your sh*t up or find a fascia with a tall opening.
